Rubix Cuba (definition): a contradiction. Ska for pop fans, pop for ska fans. Whilst appearing happy on the outside and in their music, Rubix Cuba are a deep and melancholy band (not that you’d guess it) with songs from the heart… which they wear on their shirtsleeves!!
The Rubix Cubans bring a ball of energy to any stage and are bouncy, photogenic and annoyingly catchy. Rubix Cuba draw their influences fro ma variety of sources including ska, rock, punk, swing jazz, Latin and, no surprise, Cuban. This makes the band a musical feast for listeners and a visual carnival for viewers.
The band explodes in a ball of energy on stage with their giant dancing rubiks cube mascot… CUBIE!
Hailing from Newcastle NSW, Rubix Cuba have been touring Australia and New Zealand since 2001. With a brand of ska that is both upbeat and offbeat Rubix Cuba have toured with the likes of the Specials, The Beat, The Royal Crown Review and the Mad Caddies.
