Newcastle based singer/songwriter, Lili Crane has been playing guitar and writing songs since she was nine years old. In 2016, at the age of 15, she won the ‘Rising Star’ competition in Brisbane which gave her the life changing prize and opportunity of a musical journey to Nashville for unique recording and song writing sessions.
This trip to Tennessee was an eye-opening and life changing experience for the then 15 year old musician. It was a direct injection from the capital of American song writing and a taste of the big time, which has seen her passion and work ethic grow to incredible heights, so rare in any 18 years old.
As 2018 rolled on through, Lili made the decision to leave school and, supported by her parents to follow her dream of a career in music, began studies for her Diploma of Music Industry, enabling her to shape and launch her career as an independent artist and label. She is mentored by Grant Walmsley, founder and award winning song writer of the ‘Screaming Jets’.
“I was immediately blown away by her attitude, ‘I want to play stadiums…’ was the first thing she told me and i was like, ‘Okay. Yeah, I’m in to help.’ Then I heard her sing and play her own songs and was further gobsmacked. She’s the genuine article and is on the path to great things. A very gifted songwriter and musician and only 17 years old!” – Grant Walmsley.
In November of 2018, Lili went in to record her new single with Gareth Hudson at Hazy Cosmic Jive Studio. The song, ‘Don’t Take My Mask Off’ was produced by Gareth Hudson, Grant Walmsley and herself. The debut single was released on March 31 2019.
